Practices
Technology Collaboration
Technology Collaboration
ITRI International, Inc. is here to assist you in the process of technology transfer and collaboration with Taiwanese partners.
Taiwan is actively engaged in the research and development of advanced technologies. To keep up with the latest technology development for our high-tech industries, we constantly seek new inputs from various sources. We are interested in technology collaboration with a university invention, your expertise, or an innovative technology from any individual. If matched with our technological need in Taiwan, your knowledge can be applied to our industrial technology development through licensing, joint R&D, or cooperative projects with Taiwanese partners.
On the other hand, we can also be of assistance to the technology transfer from Taiwan upon your specific request.
In support of the advanced technology and product development, ITRI’s Open Lab provides space, facilities, and access to ITRI’s technological resources for the joint research and product development activities with ITRI researchers.

ITRI -Technical University of Berlin Cooperative Agreement on Nano-optoelectronics
2002-11-27
ITRI and Technical University of Berlin reached a cooperative agreement on nano-optoelectronic technology on October 28, 2002. The agreement was signed by the General Director of ITRI's Opto-Electronics & Systems Laboratories (OES), Dr. Yung-Sheng Liu, and Prof. Dieter Bimberg of Technical University of Berlin. Both parties will focus on semiconductor quantum dots (QD) and relevant laser components, especially1.5?m GaAs laser and blue light QD. It is expected that the joint effort will lead to reduced size and lower production cost for optocommunication components, increase network bandwidth and thereby facilitate the widespread use of optocommunications...

The Center for Measurement Standards (CMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation with Technische Universitat Ilmenau (TUI) of Germany on 19 November 2002. The CMS is an established member in the world's community on measurement standards, and especially active in the Asian Pacific region. TUI, with an institute dedicated to process measurement and sensor technology, has been collaborated with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), an national facility in Germany, on a long-term basis. Noting the accomplishment in length measurement technology in Taiwan, the University has sent its top students to CMS's research for short-term assignment on several occasions. CMS has also sent researchers to the University for advanced work. This is the very first agreement between CMS and a foreign academic institute. It will not only link practical technology to academy but also help young people develop a global view...

On November 14, 2002, Mechanical Industry Research Laboratories (MIRL) of ITRI signed a patent license agreement with FANUC Ltd. Japan, giving Fanuc the right to import and sell injection molding machines involving ITRI's patent on screw rotating and advancing device in the Taiwan market. The agreement marks the beginning of a new phase of collaboration between ITRI/MIRL and FANUC on intellectual property rights...
CCL signed a cross-licensing collaboration agreement with Telcordia
2002-10-30
Leading the development of mobile and wireless communications technology in Taiwan, the Computer and Communications Research Laboratories (CCL) of ITRI signed a cross-licensing collaboration agreement on October 30th 2002 with Telcordia (formerly Bellcore), a world-renowned company and a spin-off from Bell Labs in New Jersey, U.S.A. Based on an earlier contract dubbed "Horizon Umbrella" which was signed in 1995, Telcordia has been a long-term partner of CCL. This new agreement represents a breakthrough in technology collaboration in the form of reciprocal licensing, and also "brings the collaborative relationship to a new plateau," said Dr. Bao-Shuh Paul Lin, General Director of CCL...
